Redwood City, Calif., April 22, 2002 -- SupportWizard, the leading provider of technical support automation solutions for small to medium size technology and ebusiness companies, today announced its support for FreeBSD, an advanced BSD UNIX operating system for the Intel compatible (x86), DEC Alpha, and PC-98 architectures. Now, companies can easily deploy SupportWizard 5.0, while leveraging the UNIX operating system as well as their existing investments in PCs.
SupportWizard has also announced that it will make its core source code available at no charge to licensees, and that it will offer complimentary unlimited licenses to other open-source companies. By bringing SupportWizard 5 to FreeBSD, which is widely used in the open source community, and by providing its product for free to open source organizations, SupportWizard is aligning itself with the open source movement.
"We are committed to responding to our customers, who have requested that we make SupportWizard available on FreeBSD," said Colin Earl, CEO of SupportWizard. "We are also devoted to supporting the open source movement, which enables companies to achieve high performance without a sizable cash outlay and which provides a compelling alternative to getting trapped in relationships with proprietary software vendors. Free access to source code empowers customers."
Small to medium size organizations use SupportWizard to provide internal and external technical support for complex products and services. SupportWizard is helping these companies increase the efficiency of their support operations, improve the quality of overall technical support, and lower administration costs.
SupportWizard Enterprise Edition 5 is a sophisticated, pure Web-based support system that automates the processing of new support issues with fully customizable workflows, automatic e-mail response and notification, user-defined escalation rules, customizable Java chart reporting, sophisticated control over access, and a built-in knowledgebase for dynamic FAQs.
